Microsoft Teams 101

Did You Know?

Microsoft has an application that can help you communicate more efficiently with your team or organization that may already be included in your Office 365 Subscription? Microsoft Teams is able to bring your team together with group chat, online meetings, file sharing, and web conferencing.

Helpful Tip

Office 365 Business Premium or Business Essentials will include the Microsoft Teams application. If you do not have access to Microsoft Teams with your Office 365 subscription, you can access your free version by going to this link to sign up: Free Microsoft Teams Signup. Microsoft will prompt you to enter an email and password for your account. Following this, you will need to enter an organization or company name. Once you have completed these steps, you will be able to download the computer application of teams or use the web application instead.

@Mentions

Tag any users on your team to add attention to your message.

Type “@”, followed by your teammate’s name or email address, and select them from the drop-down menu.
The user that is tagged in a mentioned in a message will receive a notification in their Activity Tab about the conversation.

Make collaboration on files a breeze

Add a file to a channel to give access to everyone on your team who needs it

On the menu at the top of your channel, select Files
Select New to create a new file, or Upload to upload an existing file
When the file is shared with your team, everyone’s edits will show up as they’re made.

Favorite Team

If you are involved in multiple Teams, you can tag your favorite Teams and they’ll appear at the top of your Favorites list for quick and easy access.

In your Teams list, fine one of the Teams or channels you frequently work with.
Select “…” to the right of the name of the Team or channel.
Select Favorite.

Personalize your conversations by adding GIFs

To add a GIF to your reply, just click GIF at the bottom of your conversation view.
You will be able to search or select a GIF from menu.
Click Send when you found the perfect GIF.

Take your team with you

Microsoft Teams has a mobile app that you can download from your iOS or Android device.

The Teams app will assist you in connecting and collaborating wherever you are.
With the mobile app, you are able to participate in conversations, join meetings on the go, and access all of your Teams, channels, files, and more.

Connect your team to the world with connections

In Teams, you are able to set up many services, including Trello, GitHub, Bing News, and more. With Office 365 Connectors, it’s easy to connect all your favorite apps and services.

Right-click the channel you want to add a connector to.
Select Connectors
Search for the connector(s) you want to add to the channel
Click add, and follow the prompts
